A Mobile Walk in the Park Experience
Draft Test Spec - 5th May 2006

Purpose:

  • To test some of the premises and scenarios of the Mobile Walk in the Park Experience.

Assumptions:

  • This experience design is intended for the Hoodoos Trail in Banff National Park. However, for testing purposes, the following tests may be carried out in other locales, such as Grange Park in Toronto and Mont Royale Park in Montreal.

Requirements for testing:

  • Users able to locate caches and Interest or Gameplay Points on the trail with the assistance of maps to be designed to conform with topographical, gameplay and features of interest on the Trail.
  • Users able to locate GPS co-ordinated caches, gameplay and Interest or Gameplay Points on the Trail with the assistance of mobile GPS devices.
  • Users able to sense through audio or imagery push to their mobile devices, proximity to Interest or Gameplay Points on the Trail / caches / other devices / other participants:
    • general proximity is established as participants move towards caches / other participants

    • threshold proximity is achieved when participants can interact with caches / and /or each other.
  • Users able to download data from caches consisting of text information, pictures, photos, maps, aerial images, audio and/or video files from the game server, while on the Trail, via a normal cellular network service.
  • Users able to upload data to server, consisting of text information, pictures, photos, audio and/or video files from the game server, while on the Trail, via a normal cellular network service, to create their own personal on-line cache.

  • Users able to exchange data consisting of text information, pictures, photos, maps, aerial images, audio and/or video files from the game server, while on the Trail, via bluetooth.
  • Users able to access their personal on-line cache to review it, and later to organize and create an album of their Mobile Walk in the Park Experience.
  • Users able to access other caches online to review and compare and learn from other users Mobile Walk in the Park Experiences.
  • Caches are:
    • geo-specific;

    • they can send and accept data to/from participants;
    • they build and remain accessible over time for future participants;
    • they must be accessible to an online, Internet community.
